Promoting the widespread use of ecological and resilient infrastructures
Position Paper
In the face of climate and environmental challenges, a paradigm shift needs to take place through the systemic promotion of eco-construction in Belgium’s cooperation programmes.
Enabel is in favour of the widespread application of green building principles in cooperation programmes. Building on its experience of eco-construction in several partner countries (Uganda, Burundi, Palestine, Senegal, etc.), the agency advocates a progressive approach to standards and bioclimatic architectural solutions that enhance the energy efficiency of buildings and reduce their environmental impact.
To meet the challenges of climate change, Enabel recommends a series of measures to promote a suitable eco-construction ecosystem and an environmental and social monitoring and evaluation system.
